I realize it would be delusional of me to assume that I am the only biblical instruction that intersects your life. In a world that in inundated in vast forms of media (internet, books, magazines, TV, radio), chances are I am but one of a multitude of biblical teachers you encounter in any given week. As your pastor that thought both encourages me and terrifies me at the same time. It encourages me to know you listen to others because I know what I personally bring to the table. Any education or experience that I might have is eternally empty, for I bring nothing to you apart from the word of God. And while the word of God is sufficient I realize that there are many more capable vessels God can use to help you on your spiritual journey; therefore, I am glad you are using a collection of biblical teachers. But at the same time that I am encouraged I am also terrified because I have heard and read many "biblical teachers" available today and their words and lives are far removed from any basis in the Bible and as a result they have brought confusion, chaos to listeners and have ushered in disrespect to everyone who seeks to faithfully teach God's word. And so I pray for you that the Holy Spirit, whose role is to guide you into all truth, will shield you from what I biblically can say are heretics.
