This was a two part sermon addressing first the families of the confirmands and adult members of the congregation as to their responsibility to continue to train. Utilizing Solomon's instruction, we are reminded that "Confirmation is not graduation". We are still dealing with young men and women who are seeking to be faithful during a difficult time of their life and a challenging time in history. Part Two of the message was address primarily to the Confirmands. Jesus calls us "branches" underscoring the special relationship He has with us. Staying connected to Christ (remembering our Baptism, hearing/learning His Word and regularly receiving the Lord's Supper) we are nourished, strengthened and kept alive. By virtue of their profession of faith, I called the confirmands "Lutherans" and encouraged them to be proud of their spiritual heritage and confession.
