Temptation is a tough word. We take it as meaning something bad. We would rather not go there, but sometimes without realizing it, it has crawled into our lives. The reality is that temptation is something that we are going to face. If you are a living, breathing person that can judge between what is right and what is wrong then you will experience temptation. James 1:13 calls us to remember that WHEN we are tempted, not IF. Temptation by itself is not a sin. Verse 12 actually says that God will bless those who patiently endure testing and temptation. So the temptation, itself, does not cause us to sin. When we act on our temptation by giving into it, then we enter into the realm of sinful actions. Those sinful actions, if allowed to grow can lead to all sorts of destructive things.
