Keep Them in Your Name

You’ve heard expressions like, “I’ll always keep you in my heart,” or “So-and-so will live in my heart forever,” or “I’ll always keep and treasure the memories we shared together.” The word for “keep” that Jesus uses in today’s Gospel text is this kind of keeping - the guarding, keeping, and treasuring of something or someone that is extremely dear and valuable to the keeper. We do this with family heirlooms as well as with close friends and family members. But an even greater keeping is done by God Himself, who guards, keeps, and treasures you, whom He has purchased with the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
