The verb “found” in Luke 2:16 means “found after a search.” The shepherds knew what to look for — a newborn baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And they found Him! They worshiped Him and marveled at God’s grace and goodness and the miracle He had created for them. These shepherds provide an example worthy of emulation for us today. They received by faith the message God sent them; and then responded with immediate obedience. After finding the baby, they reported the good news to others, “glorifying and praising God.” They took the place of the angels! Then they humbly returned to their duties as new men going back to the same old jobs. Notice “new men” — changed persons — reborn…never again to be the same. In reconciliation, that which is broken comes together. Division brings doubt and fear while unity brings peace that surpasses all human understanding. Do you have and understand this kind of peace? No one ever needs to be separated from the peace of God. All people can and should have this “Peace.” This morning we are going to look at three obstacles that will keep you from true peace.
