It's hard to imagine being swallowed by a fish. It's even more surprising to learn that my story and yours are a great deal like Jonah's. Our thoughts about God, and the people around us are a lot like his. We think: “I am a good person”, “I am for good people winning and bad people losing”, “I am for a safer world for my kids”, “I am for a city without those people who may hurt me or my family.” But really, are we all that different from "those people"? Jonah thought he was. I am Jonah. So are you.
