Following his second teaching on the Holy Spirit in John’s Gospel, Jesus now confirms His definite departure. He not only speaks of His departure but he uses a somewhat puzzling phrase, “In a little while you will see me no more” and then “in a little while you will see me again.” The Disciples are puzzled by His meaning here, at the end of the chapter (vs 16—33) He seems to clarify it but they are still unsure because this doesn’t fit their understanding of an earthly Messiah and His Reign. The closing passage (vs. 33) provides their ultimate comfort and ours as well. Take a look and we’ll discuss it together on Sunday.
